So I finally watched Kpop Demon Hunters, and oh. my. god. What a good movie! The storyline is a little predictable, I will admit. Without going into spoilers, I'll just say that at it's base it's a story that's been told before, but the details are what makes it. The unique characters, and the cultural details especially; the demon designs and the concept of the hunters all being based on Korean folklore and traditional art is really cool. The art design and animation style is beautifully done; I read that the mouth shapes in the animation are even formed out of solely shapes that would make Korean language sounds, even though they're speaking English, which I thought was really cool.
And then there's the music. Oh my god, the music. It's all fantastic. The fictional bands absolutely kill it with music that nails Kpop and honestly leaves me wanting so much more. I've had the songs stuck in my head nontstop since watching a couple nights ago. It honestly makes me want to listen to more Kpop from real bands to get my fix, lol.
All in all, I very, very much recommend this movie. It's a really fun ride.
